Brazilian Wax AfterCare

Smooth skin doesn't stop when you wax appointment ends.
A Brazilian removes hair from the root while also exfoliating the surface of the skin.  Your skin and freshly waxed follicles may be temporarily more sensitive afterward, so what you do during the next couple of days matters.

The First 24-48 Hours
Give your skin a little break.
Avoid:
-Hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms
-Very hot baths and showers
-Swimming pools
-Intense workouts and excessive sweating
-Tight-fitting underwear or clothing that creates friction
-Tanning and prolonged sun exposure
-Scrubs and exfoliating acids
-Picking or scratching the area
-Sexual activity that creates friction against freshly waxed skin

Loose, breathable clothing is your friend right now.  These precautions help minimize irritation while freshly waxed skin settles down.

After 48 Hours:  Start Your Ingrown-Hair Routine
This is where the magic happens.  Once the initial sensitivity has subsided, begin gently exfoliating the external waxed skin approximately 2-3 times per week.  Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin that can trap new hairs beneath the surface and contribute to ingrown hairs.  Do not aggressively scrub the skin.  More exfoliation isn't necessarily better.

Hydrate Your Skin
Use a lightweight moisturizer or your recommended post-wax product regularly.  Healthy, hydrated skin makes it easier for new hairs to grow through the surface instead of becoming trapped underneath dry, compacted skin.

Ingrown-Hair Treatment
If you're prone to ingrown hairs, use your recommended ingrown-hair treatment according to its directions.  Apply product only to the external bikini/pubic skin--never internally or on mucosal tissue unless the product specifically states that it is intended for that use.  And please resist the urge to dig.  Picking, squeezing, or using tweezers to excavate an ingrown hair can cause inflammation, skin injury, dark marks, and potentially infection.

Don't Shave Between Waxes
Put. The. Razor. Down.
Shaving between appointments interrupt the waxing cycle and means hairs will be at different stages of growth when you return.  For the smoothest long-term results, allow your hair to grow between appointments and stay consistent with your waxing schedule.

When Should I Come Back?
For many clients, approximately 3-4 weeks works well for a Brazilian waxing, although your individual hair growth rate may vary.  With consistency, you'll establish a much more predictable waxing routine.

A Little Redness Can Be Normal
Temporary redness, tenderness or small bumps around the follicles can occur following waxing and usually settle as the skin calms.  However, worsening pain, spreading redness, significant swelling, pus, blistering, or symptoms that don't improve should not simply be assumed to be normal post-wax irritation.

Your smooth skin formula:  Exfoliate + Hydrate + Don't pick + Don't Shave + Stay Consistent
